Urban Camping The Cruz

Last night was our first successful urban camp in Santa Cruz. After driving around like headless chickens through the city and checking out a very creepy possibly abandoned campground Bob's Pinegrove, we heard rumours of over night camping on the scenic West Cliff Drive along Santa Cruz's premier waterfront boardwalk. We found a nice quiet side street and set up shop. We decided after a couple cervasas to take a stroll along the boardwalk and saw a sign that said urban campers will be arrested, not fined, not warned, but taken for a spin in the ole paddy wagon, arrested. So we headed back to the van, to our relief there were other urban campers joining us in our campsite. All in All there were no arrests and we woke up bright and early to the sound of waves fifty feet from our door.

At the time we were breaking two of the four laws

  1. Glad to hear that you guys have made it all the way to California! Hopefully Stella will hold it together until the spa. We are in San Blas.....Chacala is the next stop......we'll check out the waves for you. Keep safe and give us a call when you reach Mexico. Have fun....
